Time for winter storage and engine maintenance
Time for engine maintenance before the winter comes. Outboard engines of less than 50 hp can either be taken up or left on the boat. Engine maintenance stays the same in either case.
With a flushing bag it is easy to run the engine on land. The engine oil must be replaced if the engine is to be used next season, if stored for extended periods conservation oil is good to use. Gear box oil must also be replaced. Check the spark plugs (petrol and diesel), clean the fuel strainer and replace the fine filter (diesel engines). Petrol engines benefit from a drop of oil in each cylinder. Remember also to check the frost guard in the freshwater system. If you look after your boat engine it will give you years of service and optimal performance.
